One photo a day. It may not have been taken the day of posting, but at least worked on that day.

Some of you may remember Marika from my maternity shot a while ago. Well, here she is with her beautiful daughter Teija, who's now 6 weeks old. Despite getting no sleep, Mom looks pretty darned good!
I'm sorry I haven't been commenting the last couple of days - it's been really hectic - today was my day off from the store, but I had two photo shoots (I'm not complaining though!). I will do my best to catch up over the next day or two.

Sunset at Grand Beach, Manitoba. We drove 1.5 hours to get there for sunset, and basically, everything out of the camera was a disappointment. I had great difficulty with the exposure. The colors here are the result of playing with different presets in lightroom but on its own, the shot was boring. I will have to read up on how to capture a sunset properly. I must say though that I like the sun turning into a perfect star in this one! I was also trying out the canon 10-22 lens - it was a little frustrating not being able to zoom in on the gulls as they hovered 6 feet in front of me!

No time to shoot today, so I played around a little in Elements, and tried John's "watercolor" effect. Looking at it uploaded, perhaps I should have desaturated a little, but I still kinda like it. This shot was taken in Stoney Stratford in England a couple of months ago.

How hot was it today? It was sooo hot, even the sunflowers were sweating!

I worked until 8pm this evening, and hoped this little guy would be around when I got home as I had nothing to post! He's becoming predictable - always there when I leave in the morning, and almost always there when I return. He's getting braver by the day - I managed to capture this with my 24-70 rather than the 70-300 and I can now often get within 10 feet of him. I'm hoping he doesn't fall prey to some of those prowling neighbourhood cats. And yes, the grass needs cutting!!

I'm not sure what these are, they grow on a bush in big clumps. I love how delicate they look up close.

So, ignore the fact that shot is not particularly scenic, and the composition is poor. Look at that blue sky!!! Yesterday I played with a polarizing filter for the first time, and I fell in love with it. My husband was shooting too, without a filter, and the sky in all his shots was blown. I'd be bold enough to say if you're looking for a little "ooomfff" in your landscapes, bite the bullet, pay the $, and get yourself one of these!

There was a big car show in town yesterday, so I took a stroll at lunchtime. I wanted to get a full-length shot, but oh boy, is that hard with all the reflective serfaces, bright sunshine and hundreds of people walking all about! Taken with my Panasonic point and shoot.
