One photo a day. It may not have been taken the day of posting, but at least worked on that day.

I wonder if these 4 are related?! They all sure looked grumpy...

We didn't realize it was acorn season until these things literally fell on our heads! we spent much of the time at our campsite ducking and running for cover, and drifted off to sleep each night listening to them landing on the roof of the trailer!

Kev and I had an opportunity to spend a few days camping at Birds Hill Provincial Park. We were just a week or two too early for the real fall color, but we got some brilliant blue skies. Definite chill in the air though - thank goodness for furnaces in trailers!

Final wedding shot (I promise!) - time to get out from behind the computer and shoot again! I think I should have been slightly higher for this one, but I love her smile.

Definitely not your typical wedding portrait of the happy couple! We suggested they sit for a few minutes, and he jokingly challenged her to an arm wrestle. Seemed like a great idea to me and she was up for the challenge! These people were every photographer's dream couple - more than willing to try something different, patient when we changed our minds, and so considerate - he kept asking us if we needed a drink, a hand with our equiment, etc. The perfect gentleman. She was so sweet and gracious. They truly seemed like the perfect couple to me!

From today's wedding
ceejanerun > September 5, 2008

No time to shoot today - I worked all day, am nursing a cold/fever, and have a wedding tomorrow. So my "POTD" is my checklist for tomorrow:

40D with 24-70 attached - check
XTi with 50 1.4 attached - check
70-200 ready and waiting - check
580 flash with off-shoe cord - check
flash bracket - check
lightmeter - check
4 spare double AA's for the flash - check
2 spare batteries for the 40D - check
20 gigs of memory plus card holder - check
lens pen and cloth - check
quick-release plate for tripod - check

What's missing? The tripod, reflector, white balance disc, the 4 double AAs, 2 XTi batteries and Epson 3000 that are all recharging, as well as the pack mule who's going to carry all this stuff tomorrow. btw...I love my smugmug strap - sure beats the canon one!

And thank you all for the wonderful response to Katie's portrait. I must confess, other than sitting her in front of the window, the pose was sheer dumb luck! Usually, just getting something in focus is half the battle - she doesn't sit still for too long.

Peggy popped into the store today with my grand-niece Katie. You can't be surrounded by cameras and NOT take her picture! Katie's mom was determined that her daughter would not be a girly-girl. Turns out Katie's favorite color is (naturally) pink, and she has a thing for hats!

While I wouldn't part with my 40D for anything (except maybe a 5D!), I must admit that there is nothing sexier than a vintage 1950's 35mm camera. We have lots of these gems on display in the store, and we take in lots of older cameras on consignment. Somehow, the new digital bodies just don't measure up compared to these things. I sent off our 1958 Leica that belonged to my father=in-law 4 months ago for repair, and am quickly running out of patience waiting for it's return. I want to look like a COOL photographer, sporting a shiney black and silver vintage machine!!
